Ok i have an older chevrolet reg cab truck and theres 2 or 3 speakers in the dash and they are all blown so when i install my aftermarket HU i plan to leave them unhooked instead of going through the trouble of tearing up the dash to replace them. there are no speakers in the doors and i dont want to cut door panels or make kicks.

In the corner of the cab behind the seats are places for 2 4x10's but ive made a bracket for them so i can install 6x9's back there or i could make a new bracket for some 6.5s.

What im un sure about is im only gonna have w/e size speakers i decide to install and the 12" sub.

If i just buy 2 6x9's or 2 6.5s and buy a seperate amp for them will i still be able to hear music and words form the speaker over the sub?

Or what should i do i tried to make this clear let me know if its not.

I would take the time to replace the dash speakers so your imaging isn't messed up with having all your speakers behind you.

Now i need to decide between buying kicker 4x10's for stock mounting plate or use my custom 6x9 mdf mounting plate.

you can always fiberglass some kicks. To replace them depending on the yr in the dash can be a pain in the azz I had to do it on mine. I finaly said fuk it and cut the sht out.

im thinkin for now.....w/e size speaker in back 3ways amped.......make 2 kicks with 6.5's? with tweets for front ran off hu........and then my sub......Cant really mess with the dash guys its my dads truck passed down through family and i dont wanna do all kinda stuff to it

that sounds like the most ghetto mishmashed thrown together setup, do it right the first time. 2 way 6.5's in kicks up front and 1 12 in the back. none of this 3 way 6x9 BS or running tweeters of the HU

Thats not what i said...

I said make custom kicks with 6.5s and run them off amp or HU w/e i have at the time

Then have 12 in between bucket seats

And have 2 speakers in rear in stock locations either 4x10's or 6x9's ran off an amp...i said 3 ways cause i thought that was good.

What im basically tryin to achieve here is good fronts and rears without removing dash

For rears im either gonna use 4x10'sor 6x9s with an amp

Sub will be between bucket seats

Fronts most likely kicks with 2 way 6.5's off amp if i can if not then off HU till i get an amp

do you really even need to run rears in a truck? many ppl don't even run rears in 4dr sedans. It would make things a lot simpler if you just ran 2 way fronts and a sub

Really? Well if thats ok then ill probly get a nice(in my price range) set of 2 way 6.5's and an amp and make kicks. Would this be good enough for me to be able to hear music and words clearly over sub without distortion when turned up?

use no rear fill. that would be the best. that way you can spend the money on a good 2 channel amp and 2 way 6.5 comp set. intead of having to buy a crappier 4 channel and speakers all around. plus with a regular cab truck you can't even use the "but what about the rear passengers" argument. so you have no excuse. seas lotus up front with a zapco amp it is!!!!!
