It's probably tuned closer to 12hz, not ridiculously high. That's assuming the box is about 2 cubic feet net, which doesn't seem too bad of an estimate.

Poor guy; I feel sorry for all the people he builds boxes for.

I wonder how that enclosure affects the sub? Could it damage it?

That's not a bad price for the whole setup. Although I would tell him to just ship the sub and burn the box.
