Biggie's LAD...

It was certified 10 times platinum (diamond) approximately two years after its release, and selling a total of 18 million copies.

Here's the catch... I'm certain that over the past seven years, All Eyez on Me has surpassed 10X platinum, but the certification process is not automatic. Remember, the record companies have to pay a fee to the RIAA for them to go back and count the exact sales and provide an official certification. The fee is the same whether the certification involves multiple certifications (in this case, it happened in the initial certification which certified the album having gone gold, platinum, and 5X platinum) or if there are no certifications at all (if, in the highly unlikely circumstance, the album is still at the same level). Which leaves the last time AEOM was recertified was June of '98.

Now since AEOM has been released remastered, enhanced, and just last month on enhanced dual disc with 5 videos. I'll bet AEOM surpasses LAD as the best-selling rap album of all time next time it gets recertified.

This just makes no sense. There are similarities in subject matter between the two, but as far as style, they were vastly different. 2Pac was more introspective and socially aware, while Biggie just kicked you in the face with street rhymes. Both of them spoke on the same issues, such as the struggles that are derived from poverty, but they did so in different ways. Biggie was a storyteller a la Big L, while 2Pac was a storyteller a la Rakim.

Now this is just ridiculous, 2Pac didn't change anything. As far as street albums, he had been there, done that. Me Against The World was his transition to becoming a real artist; he developed the capability to speak on social topics and culture in a manner that was both raw and eloquent. It was never supposed to be a street album; hell, the first single was Dear Mama. That was a big risk for him to take at the time - that's the sign of someone maturing and growing as an artist, not someone regressing and saying the same old shit over and over again.

there were other songs that 2pac wanted to put on MATW but when he heard ready to die he didnt wanna release those songs on MATW because he was afraid people would just compare him to biggie... 2pac wanted his own light to shine in cuz he knew he deserved that light.. cuz he knewif anyone, could represent the streets with DEFINITIE STREET CREDIBILITY, it would be him, tupac shakur. biggie tried to take that image himself.. and he didnt deserve it. thats where tupac is coming from with that biggie is a biter shit... oh yea, and im not saying tupac was out to get that gangster rapper image.. tupac said himself that was not his goal.. his goal was to speak the truth of what he saw on the streets.. and tupac always had an underlying message to get the kids away from the streets. tupac once said one of his goals as a rapper was to educate the new generation.. so that they would make wiser decisions. so many rappers are giving tupac so much props for that. The only thing about Biggie that really influenced 2Pac's style was when he got shot in NY. The paranoia he felt that Biggie was responsible for it became an underlying theme in many of his songs post '94.

Biggies double LP also sold more than 2Pac's. 2Pac is obviously more successful on an aggregate level, partly because of his early death and the suspicion that surrounded it, and partly because he churned out songs at a fervent rate. If you look at it on a pro rata basis, there were relatively equally successful.

i bet there arent college campuses that have a course dedicated to biggie's poetry and lyricism... you can bet your candy-*** there are classes that are dedicated to tupacs..

regardless of the numbers, 2pac ownt biggie. he turned so many of his fans into biggie-haters.. like me. now THAT'S power. as a loyal 2pac fan, im just speaking for the guy cause i know that one of his main objectives was to assassinate the characters of those that needed to be assassinated.. like biggie. notice how so many rappers LOVE tupacs work and what he stands for.. notice how 2pac's closest friends that are rappers are real people from the streets or just real people. tupac didn't fucc with fake people. fake people like biggie smals!! watch biggies documentary.. itll tell u how he was raised in a suburban community, had good grades in private school, and was far from being a gangster. hes like that Clarence guy from 8 mile.. I'll never understand the Biggie haters; I'm not a Tupac fan; A few tracks, but overall, I think his stuff is boring.

I prefer Biggie's vocabulary, voice tone, and storytelling style over Tupac all day.
