Not sure what size sub to put in my jeep.

I bought a brand new 800watt kenwood amp a few days ago and i want just one sub in the back of my cherokee. only thing is i dont know whether or not to go 12" or 15", i want a ported box, just size wise i cant decide...im not into crazy ghetto bass, but i'll need enough bump for when i want it.

any suggestions?

15" will be louder then a 12" will be louder thne a 10".

Ohm wise. You need to see waht the power is of your amp for 4 ohms and waht it is for 2 ohms ( the RMS wattage). Then we can tell you some subs. If you want a little bit of "bump" probably a 12". I have a 12" Alpine type R underpowered by about 150 watts or so and its pretty good size thump. But I havent heard a 15" so I wouldnt know how much louder they are.

you have to double surface area to gain 3 decibels. The 12-15 difference isn't a heck of a lot. Just enough to notice. For a DD a 12 will be adequate for almost any car, assuming you get a good install. More than that and the mids will have problems keeping up, some people are bass heads and don't mind that however. I just prefer the tighter midbass sounds and a better blend with subbass frequencies.

For 800 watts ur gunna have a little bit of that ghetto bass if u get an efficient sub. Or look for one that eats up that power easily.

anyways, for space, i dont want to use a ton, the 2.25 cubic ft vented box would be what i'd go for a 15" sub.

a 12" sounds perfect in a wrangler to me, however, i have a cherokee and theres a lot more space, which i want to take up as less as possible, which is why im only doing one sub...

bahhh i could get let a great 12 sub, or like a rockford stage 2 15".

Ok, that amp will not do 800 watts. It is rated at 460 at 4 ohms, and you will need a dual 2 ohm sub.

My friend just put a 12" sub in his jeep cherokee and it sounds really nice. Enough bass, but not ghetto like you said you don't want. I would go for a 12.
