Double and tripple check everything. I've had two 300/4's before, both times running to JL VR comps and they sounded beautiful.

Double check everything. If all is well you may have defect. It is a piece of electronics so they can be bad or get damaged.

Thanks for the replies. I dont really see how it could be install related, I just took all the connections from my old amp and swapped it over to the new one. I set the crossover at about 80hz, where it was on my old amp.
Ive been listening more and the best way I can describe it is that the music just doesnt sound as real to me. Even with my only 50x2 amp I'd get in the car turn on the music and it was just so clear it amazed me every time.

Do you think something could be wrong with the amplifier? I just dont see why such a highly rated amp would sound worse than my $150 alpine. I dont know if I can still return the amp or not, but I'm thinking about getting the alpine 75wx4 if I will sound more like my old amp but more powerful?

Are you using 4 speakers? Switching to 4-ch amp I assume you are feeding rear speakers more power now - try fading it to front more...

Equalizations of all amps are different. I find JL amps more or less "reference" amps with very linear response. I am sure you can correct your sound with EQ.
