Noob Question

If Iam pushing 2 subs off 1 channel than the subs have to be run in either series or parrallel, Right? If there is one terminal in the box, and inside the box, both positive and negative leads are ran to it , than what is that called? I have a box with one terminal and holes for 2 tens and trying to figure the best way to wire everything and what amp and subs to buy.
