Still bangin the 12'' CVRs powered by the PG RSD 1200.1 at 4ohm. My question is, if I added another 12'' CVR to the two I already have which I would be able to get a 2ohm load out of, would it be a noticable difference in the DBs? Reason I ask is cause it is really cheap to jus add another CVR rather than buy 1 or 2 different subs that would handle 1200. I know a lot of ppl on here would rather not talk about CVRs or kicker in general but I jus want some honest opinions on the question at hand.

according to specs youre just about doubling your power by going to a 2 ohm load, and the general consensus is double your power you gain +3 dB, double your cone area you gain another +3dB.

So in your case you would be doing both, so it would be twice as loud (generally speaking)

He's not doubling his cone area he's adding 113"^2 to 226"^2 so by your logic he's adding 1.5dB

"Twice as loud" is widely considered as 10dB.

Why don't you sell that stuff on craigslist to just put some money in your system fund toward new stuff man? No one deserves crap..

There are MANY single 12's that would be merely tickled by that amp..They run like $250...Is there even an argument to get into better gear?

Not to mention if you have room for 3 12's you have room for 2 15's which is a bigger cone area than 3 12's.

Im a tight wod and the CVRs havent really dissapointed me and no 2 15s is not more cone area than 3 12s jus clearing that up. I know there is better stuff out there trust me

Yes 2 15" subs have a bigger cone area than 3 12's.

Perception of Loudness (20dB = 4x)

Interestingly, our perception of loudness is not the same as sound pressure level. Although the actual formulae

is somewhat complex, as a rough rule of thumb, an increase of 10db SPL is perceived to be approximately twice as loud.

* Thus a 20 Db gain would seem to be about 4 times as loud.

* And a 40 Db gain would seem to be about 16 times as loud.

About Decibels (dB)

Check the chart on your own link newb..

+40 dB 16 100 10000

+30 dB 8 31.6 1000

+20 dB 4 10 100

+10 dB 2.0 = double 3.16 = √10 10

+6 dB 1.52 times 2.0 = double 4.0

You calculate cone area by using this formula (PI x Diameter x Diameter) / 4. So for 3 12s you'd have approximately 339.29 square inches of cone area, 2 15s would give you 353.43. There isn't a huge difference but plenty of people on here would run 2 15s over 3 12s for various reasons.

It's not 100% accurate because it doesn't take surround area into effect for one, plus the formula's a little different for square speakers. It's a great time saver and easy way to get an idea of how much cone area you have.
