what are the advantages and disadvantages of a properly built bandpass, NOT a shitty prefab? does it get loud and still have good sq...what? and what, if at all, would be the best bandpass box for 2 12" type r's, i listen to mostly rap. thx

Advantages of this design are a high efficiency over a small range of frequencies and some filtering characteristics.

Disadvantages are decreased frequency response, less accurate reproduction, extreme complexity in design and assembly, larger enclosure size, greater woofer unloading and decreased power handling.

advantage to a properly designed and built bandpass

alot of output at bandwidth freq range

disadvantage

if not designed properly

u can have a one note wonder..most of the bass will sound the same...the lows will sound like flap jacks...in some cases it will sound muddy and the group delay will be off

also, if you are building the box yourself, a bandpass box requires more work.
