Hey,I just got a 5.1 RCA RT-2280 reciever (prolly old)

and all the speakers are here except the sub so I am in need of the sub

The reciever is rated at 100W@8ohm according to the specs...

Does that mean Ill have 150-200w@4ohm ??

I need a sub and a box,suggestions plz?

As that particular RCA unit isn't very current and not one of the higher end receivers available that year I would suggest that it likely won't care too much for being run lower than 8 Ohms. Quite a few HT receivers don't...

You prolly wont gain that much wattage by dropping down to 4 ohms, and I agree that it might not like being ran down that low. The output stages are just not designed for that, but there is only one real way to find out... Try it out at a reasonable volume and check the temp of the output stage very often.... It should be fine...
