i have two amps. Nothing fancy. One amp is 720 watts and has 2 fuses in it, each is 15 (amps?) the other amp is 2000watts and has one 60 fuse in it. I just got a power distribution block that needs fuses. The block is capable of having three amps connected to it, but for now i just have two. My question is what size fuse should i put in the distribution block? and should i put fuses in all 3 slots or just in the 2 slots that my amps will go in??//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif thanks in advance

*****let me clarify...... the total RMS watts of the 2 amps into all 4 channels (4 ohms) i will be using is close to 1000watts

Are those RMS numbers on the wattages? If so, you should be running 0 gauge, minimum. Probably 0/2 to be safe I would think.

If those are peak wattages, get us some real RMS numbers. Then we can help.

The sizes of the fuses in the distro block have nothing to do with amp size. The fuses in the distro block are used to protect the wires coming out of the distro block because they are usually smaller than the main power wire. Whenever you go down in wire size, a new fuse is needed. This is because if that wire shorts out, the main fuse won't blow before the wire starts on fire or something.

well one amp is a Jensen JXP720 and my subwoofer amp is this http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_1649_DHD+NTX-3107+Die+Hard+Series.html I've actually had a very mickey mouse set up for about 6 years now with the same 8 guage wire and 2 other small amps and an electronic crossover with no dist block either and also no in-line fuse in the main power cable!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif . I didnt have the DHD amp. But i never had a problem except for a few months ago when i had a amp that finally died and drained my battery. But thats when i decided i need to do it the right way because i think i was pushing my luck and safety!!. I wanna just keep a 2 amp system, with 2 subs and two 2way Power Bass 5.25inch inside. Thanks.......i know, i know.... stupid *** set up i had before huh?
