Noob Moments! Post em

I ran a screw threw someone's surround a few months ago.... Only thing I helped with all day...

Winnar!
Whcih for some reason reminds me of the surround sound I had hooked up in that truck running off a 100watt power inverter and the same portable DVD player.

Wow, you guys were never Noobs. Let me tell you.

I don't have any old pictures, but it's been a long up hill battle to get to where I am now, which isn't all that high tech. LOL.

1) Found a very small pioneer amp on top of the glove box of a Toyota I got for free. I couldn't make it make sound so I went to the local stereo shop to ask them. When they told me that the blue wire was the remote wire I left. Amps don't have remotes. Stupid guy. With much perciverance I made that amp work. The blue wire was another power wire, not a remote wire. Duh.

2) Took apart a set of house speakers and put the front part that held the speakers, without the box, behind the seat. That setup shook the rear view. I was amazed. That was a wicked loud system. LOL.

3) Bought a set of RF Series 1, 8" subs. Built a pine board "ported" box. The ports were 1" holes drilled in the top of the box. Also built into that box, with no dividers, was an old set of 6x9's. Now I'm stepping up in the world.

4) My uncle gave me a huge ported box for the 8's. It had one big square port in the middle. That actually did sound pretty good. It was a well built box. Those little 8's got pretty loud for what they were.

5) I bought a complete system from my cousin. One 12" MTX blue thunder sub in a sealed box. An Alphasonic 4-channel amp, an alohasonic two channel amp, and a set of MB Quart 5 1/4 Coax. Now I was really getting somewhere in the car audio world...Except the 5 1/4,s just sat on the wheel wells of my suzuki. Conveniently they have magnets on the back so you don't have to worry about them falling off. LOL.

I never had any friends into stereos so I had to learn everything on my own, the slow way. Eventually I started meeting people into the stuff, and thanks to the great invention of the internet, I am learning the proper way of doing things.

I hope you guys can get a laugh out of that stuff.

well one of mine is that i rean two different types of sub. i had two mtx 10's and some eclipse's. lol i do say it sounded loud when i had it on one a kicker 350.2

My most noob thing was to scratch the surround on one of my BMs with a screw and the other was to hit the edge of the cone of one of my Kick mids with the screw driver decently hard so it made a little dent. Other than that nothing.

My brother did however hook his 2 Type R's up wrong once, 1 in phase and 1 out of phase in a dual chamber shared port enclosure, he said it was quiet and sounded like shit and he couldn't figure out why, until he closely looked at the speaker wires.

you're just a hardheaded moron, basing on the first part of the story alone. I'm too lazy to read the rest

Well **** ya then. On top of lazy, you're the hard headed one for coming to conclusions.

I tried to write it with some humour, but actually it was a chinese guy that could barely speak english trying to tell me how to hook it up, as quickly as possible to get me out of his hair. It didn't sound like he knew what he was talking about, so I didn't believe him.

you should probably just leave //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Mine would be 2 12" Volfenhags of a RF P300.2 in a 3cu ft Ported box tunned to 35hz. Got Decently loud. Although I thought my 4 gauge was HUGE, now its nothing.

The most noob install I have had was probably my first one. I got a realllyyy old school Planet Audio 12" woofer, slapped it in a pathetic attempt at a box at the time. I think I just cut up some particle board or something, or I got it from someone, I dont remember lol. Had it running off a Kenwood 150x2 amp, 4ga amp kit.

Used it for about a week and a half, then I picked up a pair of 10" fosgates and put them in a little sealed box that was to spec. Jammed that for another week or two. Made a huge ported box for them, couldnt drive my truck anymore from the loss of leg room.

Jammed it for a day, got home, then put them in a nice size sealed box and banged em for about a year.

At that point it was actually a decent sounding setup, especially in that little truck I had, it would definately tickle your ears sometimes, which was an accomplishment for me at the time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

My noob moment was this weekend, when running wire into my driver side door for mids and tweets. Rand them both across the dash from the passenger side of the car, got them in after the expected struggle with the door boot, put the dash all back together (had to take almost all of it apart) then realized I ran oth ends of the same wire. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Needless to say, I cut the wire at the halfway point, and used butt connectors to correct the wiring.

:p

It was a long day..

My 1st system if you could call it that: 91 corrola w stock headunit and a rampage 50x2 checker amp powering 2 RF punch put into home speaker boxes with the wires ran directly to the subs no mids or tweets. took up the entire backseat and It took some work to shut the door but it was louder than I expected because it was in the backseat

LOL. There's my style first system. Cheers to learning the hard way.
