Item(s) for Sale: Memphis 4ch amp. Cosmetic 7/10 Mechanical 0/10

Item(s) Description/Condition: Amp isn't in horrible shape. Could use a cleaning with some scuffs. Not exactly a show car amp. No burn marks on either side of the board. Nothing looks damaged and caps are not swollen. When fuses are put in they pop after about 5 secs. I do not know how to repair amps. Sold an amp to a lady and this one was the one in her car. Unknown circumstances on how it ended up this way. Your guess is as good as mine

Price: $60

Shipping and Miscellaneous Item Information: Buyer pays shipping. Only accept paypal from people with feedback.

Still here. Make me an offer or trade! I may be overlooking something on this amp, so its probably an easy fix. If you know what it is or could be feel free to share the knowlege!

Sounds like it has a blown output transistor or two if its popping the fuses after it powers on for a few seconds. Probably only on one side or channel. Shouldn't be a very expensive fix as long as the parts are readily available.

So, anyone able to quote me a price to fix this? Thinking of fixing and using for my car. I've fixed things before, mainly replaced resistors or caps, unsure how to test anything else. Will even pay if you teach me!

well, from what it sounds like to me, you may need, and definately should be using a scope. there are some things you can ohm out on the transistors, and it is possible that there is a shorted output(s) which you could test by checking for dc power on the speaker terminals when you turn it on. wire a headlight in series with the power too keep the current limited. if you find that, look for shorting on any of the transistor legs. if not, it sounds like a problem in the power supply drive/control section, which is not switching proper. if that is the case, then the scope is needed to see what it is doing. you can take the voltage readings at the control ic legs, but to be sure that it is operating proper, once repaired, the scope will make sure that you do not blow all the time and parts on what you just did.
