you hit the mechanical limits of that sub causin it to blow, did you notice any voice coil smell at all while listenin to your music durin that time?

yes I did, but I thought it was just breaking in

I need to know, becasue the audio place agreed to give me back the money from the box, but they refuse to pay for the sub. And the JL dealer says the sub blew due to poor design of the sub box

how was the box designed?

It was designed correctly but it was only 1.1 cubic feet instead of 1.5 cubic feet, and all the dimensions were wrong on it. The JL place said that it casued to much pressure and temp and casued it to blow or something
