Alright,

I know that there is tons of threads on noise in speakers but can not find an answer for mine. Basically my subs have a whine to them(happens whether engine is started or not), and it seems to fluctuate with the cars rpms. When i remove the rca's from the amp the noise is still there. So does this mean that the ground must be bad? I have re-done the ground at three different spots, and still get the same noise. Do I just **** at making grounds, or could it be something else?

Any input would be great.

What kind of amplifier, what is it mounted to, what size power and ground wires, how long is it?
1.Hifonics bx1500d

2.On back seat

3.4 gauge ground and power

Also my current ground uses one of the stinger grounding "foots" that is mounted on sanded metal.

Is your ground to the metal body of the car? If so check under the hood and look at the Neg terminal of the battery. There should be two wire comming off the terminal. one that goes to your engine, and one that is about 6 to 12 inch's long that mounts to the body of the car. If you do not have the one that mounts to the body of the car the make one. Most cars over the years will have corosion built up where the body and frame meet. Try that.

It's not regular alternator whine if it's there even with the engine off. And not noise pickup in the cables if it's still there with the RCA's unplugged. Sounds like a bad amp to me.

Yeah, but thats weird that he says that because if also says it flucuates with the rpms, so there must be something besides the alternator causing the noise, or a bad amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I really hope it is not the amp, when i get a chance ill try hooking up another amp.

I still have not hooked up another amp, but I figured I should add this information. ::

-The sound is not a constant whine, it kinda like a firework that "screams" ...it comes and goes

-It is really quiet, I cant hear it unless im right next to the subs

-As far as I can tell it does not get louder with volume

-Also, when I put my ear next to a woofer(with no sound coming from the hu) I hear a muffled sounding noise. I dont really know how to describe it.

Anyway, I hope this will give some more ideas of what the problem may be.
