noise ordinances?

i live in the middle of the street in my neighberhood. i usually dont have my stereo up very loud when i go down it but i still get people yelling at me to turn it down. so today my dad was out mowing the lawn and one of the neighbors stops and talks to my dad and asks him if he can have me turn my stereo down when i go down this street. he says that his kids are sleeping and that it wakes them up. first off the day i went that way down the street it was only like 8:00p.m. so i am wondering that is i dont turn it down, can i get in any type of trouble if there is a cop on this street? i live in a somewhat large city and i dont really know any laws or rules against noise violations.

I dont know about the laws where ur at but the law here in Fl is that the system is supposed to be turned down by 10 PM. I honestly dont think the police can do anything about before then unless ur sitting at a light and disturbing other people.

But i would look into it there. It might be the same though

You might as well just turn it down. Why piss of the neighbors? Besides, dont you know that one of the cardinal rules is not to bump near where you live?

On a related note, I would love to have one of the noise ordinances street signs- ours hear show a car tilted to one side, with music notes around it, and says "we dont want to hear it", NOISE ORDINANCES ENFORCED. Id like to mount one on the back glass of my suv.

1. don't boom in your neighbor hood EVER

2. turn it down at stop lights. not everyone is going to enjoy bia bia at 140 decibles

3. try to boom with the widows up as to not to disturb the old farts around you

actually I got a ticket for EXTREMELY EXCESSIVE LOUD NOISE once

funny thing is I only had 2 15" typr-r's in a sealed box and 900watts my HU was at 10 out of 50 I beleive nowhere near loud enuf to be loud but the cop was still a dick

Check local laws...You could be in violation of different laws. Some places if the complaining person is willing to go to court the cop can write tickets.

But in the end you don't to piss of your neighbors especially if you live with your parents since they have to deal with it. turn your shit up after you leave the residential area.

In detroit Michigan, I got a Civil infraction for noise pollution its a 125 dollar ticket, plus 120 dollars in court fee's (the court apperance is required) no matter when you have your system up if it can be heard more then 10 feet it is noise pollution

omaha is tiny, its not big. i was there a few months back. dont compare to philly.

well, in pa you can get tickets for having too loud a stereo. theres no set volume of time of day. most cops around here will just give you a warning though. i imagine its the same everywhere, but there may be actual ordinences in different places. contact your local authorities and ask em.

well i what i do is go loud everywhere but when i get near my house i lower the volume. so nobody no's i have a system near by, and to piss my street off.

my friend almost got a $180 ticket, he had a 15" punch z and a rf 201s in a sealed box.....the law here is 50ft away. but our cops don't care if you're playin some old rock song or somethin, but if its rap they'll tell ya to turn it down supposedly.............
