well recently i blew a fuse on my audison sub amp, and i replaced it and it blew again in about 10 minutes. i checked all the wires and how they were wired and they were all fine. so i tried another fuse, and now i have no sound whatsoever. can anyone throw some ideas at me of what could cause this. i have a dmm, not very good with it, but, is there a way i can check to make sure everything is getting the right volts and power? need any other info. please ask.

been going on 3 weeks now with no car audio, any help is GREATLY appreciated, thanks.

Hmm, after blowing the fuse 3 times, the amp has probably had enough. Just out of curiousity though, what kind of load were you giving the amp? How were the sub(s) wired? How many subs? DVC or SVC?

Anyway, you can check a few things.

1. Make sure the amp is getting power. Set the DMM to measure DC voltage. Black probe on ground, red on + to the amp. Should be over 12 volts. Same thing with the remote turn-on.

2. Make sure the amp is getting signal from HU. Set the DMM to measure AC voltage. Unplug one of the RCA's, and make sure it doesn't touch any power wires while it's out! Put the black probe on the outer shield of the RCA, and red probe on the center. With music playing, you should see a fluctuating reading of about a volt or so. Plug the RCA back in.

3. Measure the output. Set the DMM to measure AC voltage. Remove the speaker wires from the amp, and measure the voltage output at the speaker outputs. Black on -, red on +, for the speaker output. It should be fluctuating, several volts.

This should help you narrow down the problem.

well it's one 12" idmax dvc wired to 1 ohm. amp is 1 ohm stable. i also have a remote wire hooked up from the audi sub amp to my pg xenon 4 ch component amp which is hooked up to my 6 1/2 comps in the front and rear btw. when i do the dmm testing should i have the key to the on position, vehicle running, or either? just wanna make sure i do it right, thanks for the help kevin.
