That wasn't what he was telling you...if you run the sub with slightly less power (like a kW), I bet you'd be hard pressed to tell an audible difference, and the driver would last a whole lot longer.

So what do you propose I do then? Sell the amp and get a weaker one?

NO dumbass, turn the gains DOWWWWWWWWWWWN! Go all the way to the left, it should not make the sub move, almost like its turned off, now slowly move the gain to the right untill it sounds good.

Just make sure your HU's tunred to your listening volume. Bam! Solved your problem.

But you should do that after you put it in the appropriate box. So the gains can be set correctly.

BTW the gain is located on the amp. Do you need a picture?

Then you wouldn't have asked the question that you did...because you'd know that the RMS voltage that you see on the speaker outputs directly corresponds to power, and all you need to do is use Ohm's Law to find the voltage for a lower power, instead of buying another amp...

Ok while its in the tiny box, ease off the gains so you dont destroy it. If its quiet, then its quiet. Oh well, thats wot ya get. Put it in the right box and it should be alot louder and it will sound right. Then, go from there. If it still sounds like crap then it may be defective, but i'm sure you can get a new one and mike will set you up. So dont sell it and put another 300 in for a xxx.
