I recently had a alpine stereo installed by a friend and for some reason all my stations and the clock resets every time i start my car. Can somebody help me please?

Something with your constant (yellow) wire.

He probably hooked up the constant wire to the turn on from the car instead of the cars constant. If you take your radio out, I bet the red and yellow wires coming out of the radio are hooked together.

a. battery wire isn't correctly wired

b. fuse is bad

c. just have a bad or shorted wire

what I did was ran my own ground and power wire directly from the battery for best connection

If the fuse was blown, how would it turn on at all?

Got me! Well what buck said, it's almost definitely running to switched power

1. Make sure the battery (constant) wire is not connected to the ACC wire.

2. Tell your friend he's an idiot and shouldn't be touching car electronics.
