No harness, t-tap only option?

I'm getting a new car soon (06 civic) and there still is no harness made for this vehicle. I've found a very good site on wiring up an aftermarket H/U to the factory harness, and they say to t-tap into the harness. I've used a t-tap before on my dvd player for the bypass and they seemed like a bad connection, although I've had no problem with them so far. Will a t-tap be dependable enough to use for this permanent of an installation, or should I look into doing something else? I REALLY don't want to cut the factory harness. All I really need is the remote-turn on (amp), +12v, ground (I'll actually not even use this and ground to the chassis instead), illumination, constant. I won't power the rear speakers, and the fronts will be ran off a 2-channel amp. I'm also putting my 12w7 and 1000/1 in there.

get a multimeter and test all the wires first. find out what one is 12v constant, find out what one is 12v+ switched, find out what one is illumination ( i dont even bother with that one tho ) and then do this.

get some wire cutters that have the little teeth at the end like this;

and find the right wire gague for the wires you found, and bite down and wiggle a little (not cutting the copper wire). then move your strippers about 1\2 down the wire and repeat. then get a nice new razor blade like this;

and slice off a side of the plastic part of the wire between your little "wire bites" you made with the strippers. then puil off the rest of the plastic covering on the wire.

you now have a non-cut piece of wire to tap into. get some spare 12~14 guage wire and strip the end and wrap it around yuor wire, and solder it in place. then fold the wire so its parallel with the origional wire, and wrap tape around the connection.

hook this to your headunit harness (id prolly use some male\female quick connects) and you are all set //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

make your own ground on the chassis too.
