i emailed a seller regarding about a hifonics brutus bx2005d class D sub amp and his response was somewhat like this...

"no class d amps have fuses, they rely on internal protection"

can someone tell me more about this? i never knew anything of this at all:eyebrow:

ive owned the bx1000d and the bx1500d and i always thought they were class d amps while they were fused with a maxi style on the side of the amp.

rule of thumb: it is very difficult to be able to use definitive words like

NO, ALWAYS, or NEVER in the context that 'product X NEVER has this.'//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

His particular amp might not have.

True, some of my older Class D's didnt have external fuses...

for those amps that do not come fused from the manfactuer, what is the proper way to fuse them? im guessing by adding another fuse by the amp along the power wire (within 3 feet)? therefore making a fuse by the battery and a fuse by the amps power wire.
