Class A/B vs. Class D power for Subs

I would say there isn't really an audible benefit. Class d's are more efficient which when you are running a high wattage substage, is important because your electrical system will have less strain

well, i dont think its anything audible, but your electrical system will love you for running class d with the subs. unless of course youre running lower wattages like 400-600.

class D efficiency at full capacity - 75%

class A/B efficiency at full capacity - 60%

------------------------------------------------------

class D efficiency at 1/3 capacity - 70%

class A/B efficiency at 1/3 capacity - 35%

Class D amps will have a higher distortion point at max capacity.

Class A/B amps will have a lower distortion point but a lower efficiency also.

Most class D amps include seetings geared for subs. IE - lower LPF/HPF settings. Subsonic filters.

And on most class A/B amps, the frequency range on the HPF/LPF is much higher.
