No baseball thread on opening day??!!

catching it with the glove hand 100% of the time instead of just finding a way to get in front of it and stop it i might come to a compromise.
id say in hockey the goalie at least knows the general direction the puck is coming from and has a decent chance to stop it. id argue that being a major league infielder might be a little more difficult. goalie knows where the puck is coming from. batters can hit it in any direction. ever play 3rd base on a regulation field? could you imagine a guy the size of Mark Mcgwire or barry bonds being only 90 feet from you and hitting a ball at you..... at least hockey players have pads, fielders only have their gloves....

sure we could sit here and name 1000 things in sports that are difficult, but hitting something you cant see that is coming from 60ft and something you only have a tenth of a second to decide whether to swing or not.... go to the batting cage sometime and try.... then try your goalie scenario and get in front of a ball and see if you can get it to hit your body haha
i play goalie and we use a puck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

and you do not always know where the puck is coming from, aginst a good team there are so many passes by the time u have the chance to get in position the puck is with the guy that passed it already

like i said if you have the ability to catch it glove hand everytime then you are an amazing athlete with eyes of a hawk. but to merely get in front of the puck and stop it from getting passed you while still extremely difficult, and something i know I couldnt do effectively, i dont think is as hard as hitting a fastball.

i know you use a puck. i was merely comparing the two saying i could move and get in front of a moving object alot easier than i can see it, swing at it, and hit it.

few things I saw...

1. Basketball is not fast paced.. so many stops its not even funny.. oh he coughed foul.. penalty here there.. its just ahhh play the ****ed game.. thats why i like watching street games.. people only ***** if you really get em or it effects something.. you bump someone while the shoot its all good if they make it..

2. Golf is one of the most technical sports out there... it has more hand/eye/body coordination than any sport out there.. your have your wrist a little off the ball will go no where near where you want..

3. It is much easier to move a hand than a whole body so to say a goalies job is easier is a little dumb.. with all the commotion and as fast as the players flick the puck between each other its a lot more difficult than baseball..

I have played pretty much every sport out there.. I like to play all sports but can only watch a few.. Golf is easier to learn the basics and intermediates of than most sports but after that it gets very difficult to master.. Soccer is the most non-stop sport.. Hockey is the fastest..

try it some time, it is alot harder than you will ever imagine

i also used to catch for baseball (it sucked hard) hockey >baseball

and i do agree on golf being one of the hardest sports i **** so bad at it, pretty good at mini golf though:)

i never said it wasnt hard. i admitted it would be very hard and also admitted i wouldnt want to nor be able to do it very effectively.

you caught in baseball. for who? in little league or college/major leagues...theres a huge difference. 75>mph any kid that can catch a ball can do that. 90mph+, with the addition of breaking balls in the mix, a whole different world.

being that you are coordinated enough to play goalie, go to the batting cages and try to hit a 90+ fastball. tell me which one is more difficult.

again im not saying what you do isnt hard and that it doesnt take great skill, just think it takes more to hit the fastball is all. you have your opinion, i have mine.

and to end the golf discussion. golfers cant be that good. i mean hell the same guy wins all the time! haha jk couldnt even beat him when his leg was broken!

Another vote for "Baseball sucks".
I don't know why you want to watch a bunch of overpaid fegs stand around for 4 hours.
so does football, so does basketball, so does hockey, so does soccer or whatever queer *** name the rest of the world calls it, they all have their fun points, I like to sit in the warmth and drink my drinks and sit in my seat and watch my team win rather than sit in -20 weather and get drunk to keep warm just to see my team lose.

I love baseball. Nothin like sittin back with a tall one and a bag of peanuts at camnden yards.
I was at opening day yesterday. Was a beautiful thing to see. CC got rocked, Tex sucked, Jeeter could not field, and Posada looked horrible.

Lovely to see the Yankee fans walk out ashamed and beaten.

Yankees rule. It will be even funnier to see your stadium full of yankee fans on Wednesday. :O
Actually not funny at all seeing that there still will be more O's fans regardless. And quite sad that it is cheaper for Yankee fans to drive to Baltimore to see a game then it is to see one at home. Many of the arrogant disrespectful "fans" had to be removed from the game due to their very poor behavior. So like yesterday, I would assume the amount of Yankee fans will dwindle as the game goes on.
