No Amplifier Output?

earlier today i installed 2 kicked l5 12" and a kicker 750 watt 1 channel amp. I was tuning the amp and at first it worked fine with a green led light on the amp like it was suppose to have. but then i changed the song and all of a sudden the amp went to red flashing light. i read the owners manual and it said if that happens the amp is either too hot or not getting enough voltage? I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm thinking it is the voltage but I dont know. It was working fine at first for 5 minutes or so and then I changed the song and then the green light went to a red flashing light and wasnt giving any output to the subs. any suggestions on what the problem is? and what I should do? thanks!

well i assume you have a dmm? check the voltage at the amp and you can rule out if it is the voltage or not. are you trying to run this amp lower then it is capable of? is this happening with the speakers disconnected?

If you have a meter check your voltage.

Where are your gains set? Try lowering them and see what happens. You could be just overdriving the amp.

Does the amp work again after it sits for a while? If so, then you definitely have a fixable issue. Check your ground connection, make sure it is good.

If you can't get the amp to go out of protection mode, then you might have an amp problem. If so, try disconnecting everything from the amp except power. See what happens.

my gains were set at the lowest and i adjusted them alittle higher, and then i messed with the bass boost followed by the crossover frequency. the subs and amp were working fine and then when I changed the song there wasnt any output. but now that i think about it, it might be the ground connection as of matter of fact. i'll check on that. but no the amp doesnt start up after letting it sit for awhile. this happened last nite and still today it isn't working. I'll also try disconnecting everyhing except the power. thanks again! and i'll get back and post what my results are.

follow up: found the problem. apparently i set my frequency to high and that overloaded the amp. i disconnected the power cable from the battery to reset it and connected it back and the problem was fixed. thanks for the help!

ha nevermind, problem still exists. but i seriously believe it is the amp. I disconnected one of my subs so only one is wired. with this setup this has been the longest it has been working fine. until now....i tried to disconnect the power cable from the battery and reconnect it again. this time it doesnt fix the problem. i'm guessing my amplifier is messed up. so i'm taking it in to be troubleshooted by a proffesional.

so, your amp is staying in protect...or am I reading something wrong?

Have you measured all voltage Power, remote, outputs, rcas etc?

Whats the hpf and lpf set to? Could help with no output...don't see how it would make it go into protect though. Are the subs working and wired properly?

Sorry for the bad luck.

lol too **** far of a drive for me. especially for a problem this simple. haha i measured all the voltage like u said. the amp, the battery, the power cable, and finally then ground. haha who coulda guessed it was the ground....lol thanks for all the help though guys!
