Nitro rc

I used to be into them back in the day. I had the hornet dumbuggy. I modded it out pretty good and have to admit it gets mighty expensive. I used to race mine at local r/c shows held around here. I even have a couple trophies from it. I think I got out of it because the kids just wanted to have fun and race as the parents got so competitive. I remember going into the room where after the race you could mod it out, change tires and such. You would think you just walked through a sponsered Nascar pit area. I swear they had tool boxes that I would die for now! I find it funny to think of it.

Ahh, my second love is 1/8 scale buggies, and monster trucks. I race offroad regularly spring, summer, and fall. With winter coming I'm gonna start racing 1/18th scale trucks indoors this winter. Should be fun, here's the inventory not all are nitro, but I got to play in the winter too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Besides that, since the evolution of brushless motors, and lipoly batteries electrics can hold thier own against nitro not only in top speed, but run time as well.

how are the B4 Buggys now? i had a B3 with everything done too it posible.. also, when i got out the highest batt was 3400? i think and like $60 a pack avg.. any cool motors? i ran a modified 9 turn in my buggy and that shit could pull the front up soo easy and was hard to control on our track

Everyone I've heard says the B4 is better than the B3. The highest regular packs are at 3800 now. LiPo's are starting to get real popular and they have much more capacity than regulars. Brushless is getting big now too. If you get a brushless with a LiPo, you wil be competing with nitro's with runtme and speed.

Do any of you go on any rc forums?

Great conversations. nice to see some old rc's people had. mine was the kat. i put some slicks on it and messed with the motor i could leave black marks from a dead stop.

its expensive unless you do your machine rite. always pm it after you run it, and just pay attention to it, there machines you'll see most times hear if somethings wrong. thats partly why i bought the xxx-nt's there smooth machines highly rated & at my local hobby shop i can get parts all day long if needed.

I did it for a while before my son arrived, then it was just too much time and money... of course, I was pretty extreme and pushing the envelope with less-common brushless electric power, and my most serious truck pulled over 60 MPH in 4WD with monster tires, and had a LOT of money into it. The other ones were no slackers in cost either.

D@mn man is that an e-maxx ?? That's freakin awesome

Here's a pic of my race truck from this year. I raced stock monster trucks at the local track. laid the smackdown with a good ol' sportmaxx. It's 2 wheel drive versus most other monsters being 4 wheel drive. But the weight difference more than makes up for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

P.s. I'm probably going to sell this monster after the first of the year if anybodies interested. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks. Ya--well, kinda. I think it still has E-Maxx front bumper, but that's about it. Even the internal transmission gears are alloy. Check out the other trucks and cars I built on the rcNuts.com site, if you're curious.

Cheers

i have a savage 25. i have been in the hobby for about 8 months now, i love it. i got somewhere around 200 bucks in my savage...tires, air filter, body, some other small stuff. mine does wheelies on command, awesome truck.

There are brushless conversion kits for the Savage, if you get sick of the mess, stink, noise, and general hassle of nitro. Plus, you can get it to have more power with brushless electric and LiIon and LiPoly technology has come a long way and can offer similar run-time as nitro.

One of my 18t's has a mamba 6500. The d@mn thing is too fast, especially with lipoly batts. With foams on carpet, if you gun it from a stand still, it will flip over backwards. We clocked it at 53mph with lipoly's, and at 45mph with a 7cell gp pack. I just bought a hacker brushless setup from a guy on radiocontrolzone. I'm going to put in the tc3 for touring season next year. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah novak is still around, and is still some top notch gear. They don't make the atom speed controls anymore. ( I still use a couple ) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
