how do I know what engine will fit in what car?

assuming I bought a cheap nitro car, and wanted to put a bigger engine in it...

would it just be a case of modding it to fit? or what?

What car is it? If it has a small block engine(.15 and under), your best bet is to just keep a small block in it. If it is a big block(.16 and up) your good to go with a big engine.

Those engines cost about as much if not more then the average home.
Its all custom.

They are usually good for 1, maybe 2 runs.

I'm assuming this is your first car? If so, just keep the stock engine in it and drive it like that for a while.

depends on car and chassi layout but if there is a will there is a way. you can squezze big blocks into small block trucks and cars with some modding and enginuity. what are you thinking of getting? who else is into rc? been in it for like 5 or 6 years now and racing for a couple years

I have a stock savage 4.6ss truck (came with the 3 speed) and it hauls a$$.

if you havent got the car yet, IMO spend the extra $$$.

its one of those things, but cheap/buy twice.

I wouldnt waste my money on anything smartech of ebay. No one will have parts for it even though they claim hpi's stuff fits it. I see these all the time at my work and i just push them off. Spend a little more if your going to invest the money into this kind of toy. I would recomment a traxxas 4-tec 3.3 or a ofna 1/8 buggy is a good cheap way to get into it. I work at a hobby shop so if you have any questions let me know. And nothing bigger than an .18 in the smartech. Bottom end of an OS .18 about the same as the average .12-.15 Hope this helps
