Nissan 350z Reliability

Dont know a whole lot about these, but I know the cars I'm considering

I've got it down to three cars, I'm going to test drive and look at insurance rates on all 3, and then decide

2004 Nissan 350z

2004 Honda Accord EX 6spd Coupe

2003 Mitsubishi Evo8

The 350z I'm looking at, if I act quickly, is located at http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=191020195&dealer_id=35207326&car_year=2004&model=350Z&bkms=1136792493213&lang=en&isp=y&start_year=1999&certified=&search_type=both&distance=100&make=NISSAN&min_price=15000&address=30263&advanced=&end_year=2005&max_price=24500&cardist=62 long link I'm sorry

Anyways, I personally dont have a taste for sports cars with chrome rims, but I think that one looks rather good and I'm going to go look at in the next day or two.

Opinions on the reliability of the three, which is best, and which is going to kill my insurance the least? I know the Evo8 is a 4door which helps, and also a 4 cylinder, but it's also turbod //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Other two are V6's, help?

Nissans are traditionally pretty reliable. I do not know if the 350Z falls into the insurance tables as a sports car or not - would surprise me if it didn't, though.

Hondas are reliable as an oak tree and have been for decades. Of the 3 choices you listed I would imagine this being the most insurance-friendly.

I personally dislike Mitsubishis 'cause everyone I have ever known to have one found themselves having oil consumption problems after about 60K miles. I do not know if this is due to weak valve seats, faulty rings, or what but every older Mitsu I have ever seen, bar none (and seemingly this holds true here as well as Australia from personal experience) blows oil smoke after it gets some miles on it. OEM Turbochargers are an insurance underwriter's friend. Expect to get bitten pretty hard on this one.

Just my $0.02.

IMO if a car looks like that it's probably been owned by somone that drove the piss outta it... I wouldn't get the 350, although I'm not a huge fan of any of the cars you listed.... so I guess I'll just shut it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i have heard of numerous problems with the evo's. never heard anything bad with the 350z though. i know quite a few people that have them and they have had good luck and they love them. you cant go wrong with the honda either, but if it were my choice and if i wanted a 2 door, i would go with the 350z, much more classy looking and sportier, but personally, i am over the 2 door after having that cobra. if i were to get back into a car it would be a mid size sedan, maybe even a sti or 3 series bmw, but a 4 door is my point.

Evo's are nice, but I wouldnt get a used one. Its been driven hard as hell im sure, also the half shafts arent great so you would need to get aftermarket. Also prepare for a turbo change at 50,000+ miles, and the brakes arent cheap as well. honda's are VERY reliable, just dont put a fart can on it. 350Z is reliable, no problems heard of this way. My .02 , if you want a good reliable car thats great on gas mileage and not slow and wont kill pocket with insurance is the Acure RSX type S. OR if you can go $17,000 on a used car go for a 2003-2004 Mach 1. You can find one used and 90% of them are taken care of VERY well. I also was getting 27-30 MPG in mine when it wAS STOCK AND WOULD RUN HIGH 12'S AS WELL. **** CAPS . anyways, just depends on exactly what your after.

I considered a Mach 1, I just flat *** cant afford the insurance. I think the Accord is more than likely the only one that I can affodr the insurance on man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Could I afford the insurance on the Mach 1, it'd probably be mine. I found an 02 Stage 2 Roush I like, but onceagain - insurance would be a pain in the ***. Gas mileage on them is decent, probably 16-17, but I'm just not sure if that's what I want. I'm also a very large guy, as mentioned, and I'm somewhat cramped in a mustang.

haha you guys are saying that the 350z has no problems wt it???? It's actually got a very well known Front tire cupping problem. As in needing to change your tires as early as 7500 miles. I dont know how you guys passed up that problem, as nobody has even mentioned it to this guy so far. haha but as long as you corner hard you should be ok

Don't get a 350z. I used to LOVE them, but after joining their forums, and realizing that the tire feathering issues never were truly fixed, I stopped liking them.

They don't mod easy, they are expensive to mod. Their trannys ****, there are random little things here and there that are routine annoyances for Z drivers. If you ever plan on going any faster than the car is now, don't get a 350z. Period.
