nightmare continues. noise. help me fix this please!

^ I don't think so.. that article concearns a different type of problem.. The OP is concearned about ground loop between different electrical devices; and not ac ripple..

This isn't exactly rocket science.. get a better source unit or use a proper fix.. FYI an isolator should have worked unless there is a problem with the PSU of your amplifier..

well a good update one this.

re-tested everything again

its definitely the req5. its putting out the dirty signal.

ive tried regrounding it, powering it and grounding it at amps terminals so that there wont be a variance in electricity and nothing. rcas are no where near power (ran them on outside just to make sure)

im taking the signal from the factory amp output leads. so it could be that the factory amp puts out engine whine? i dont know if that could even be possible or else wouldnt i be hearing it with the factory system also?

i need some more help witht his. ive been dealing with alternator noise for months now. i want this shit gone.

ive tried:

-regrounding amp

-running rcas outside of car

-running remote wire outside of car

-running speakers right next to the amp (to make sure they werent picking up any noise from power wire or anything)

what could be the **** problem.

i even have engine noise when the amps and everything is off.

i know these alternator noise are so **** common, but ****, ive read through so many of them and none of the other suggestions seem to wrok either. please help! ive had engine noise for about half a year now

roberto did u try hooking up the req5 in before the factory amp, that might work especially if you are getting a bad signal from the factory amp,you should always bypass the factory amp when using other amps.

thats exactly what i was thinking to do next.

i havnt had time to go to gregs lately, but ive been thinking about wtf could be the problem, cus ive really tried quite a few things. il try that as soona as i can, but according to mtx (they make the req) before the factory or amp, shouldnt matter.

i started this thread 6 months ago, so this problem is not new to me. and it still cant get fixed

I can promise u the problem is in the headunit. Could be in the processor though too. Bad internal RCA grounds from removing the ground of the amp before the power wire.

dont know why they would tell you that ,any good installer will tell tell you do not put 2 amps inline together[or try to combine them thru rcas or speaker wires.not good] ALWAYS BYPASS THE STOCK AMP.by doing what youve done the other guy may also be right ,you may have messed up the grounds in your deck also.but try connecting before the amp first ,you might bet lucky. he means internal grounds for the speaker leads going to the stock amp form the stock hu.

what exactly do u mean by "Bad internal RCA grounds from removing the ground of the amp before the power wire. "
Usually, RCA's are grounded to output ground or power ground. RCA's shields are ground which ground to your head unit. Remove the ground wire of the amp before disconnecting power to the power terminal, will cause all that power to ground to the RCA's. Obviously since these grounds are not big enough to handle that much current, you get a burnt or broken trace in the head unit, or crossover that you are using. Or the RCA's ground tabs can burn up in the amp. Easy fix, stupid mistake.

****. that sucks. i could have done that at some point, i cant remember every time ive unnstalled everything. so its possible i messed up the ground on my factory equipment OR the processor.
