Ok, so I am new to this whole car audio thing. I have a 2012 chrysler 300 and have 2 wdx 2k 12's in a probox with a re audio ztx 3000.1 class D amp (1400rms i believe) and I have it all hooked up to my factory radio which I do not want to change at all. I feel like my subs just aren't producing enough bass. So my question is what could I do to make them hit harder? Custom box? Bigger amp? Is it due to my factory radio? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's most likely the radio. Some units suppress bass because factory speakers can't handle it. Audio control offers some units that restore that lost bass. I don't think the box is the problem as far as output goes. Those things are SPL tuned and aren't very musical. If you're playing songs with low bass, you just won't get much. Higher stuff is fine. You should get the LC7i to replace your current LOC. Custom boxes are better because they're built specifically for your woofers and your musical taste in mind.

Thank you. I wish the shop where I had the install done would have mentioned something about the different LOC options available. They also kept saying that my amp wasn't big enough to push the subs and they recommended I purchase something around 2400rms in the future. Is this true?

More power isn't bad, but you have to be sure your electrical system can support a real 2400w amp. I had the same problem when I bought a smaller amp and upgraded to one that's about twice as powerful. Wasn't too much louder, but sounded a lot better and hit with a lot more authority. Not to mentioned gained a lot on the low end. Good shops also know which cars' stock stereos generally suppress bass.

Ok, I'll start with upgrading my LOC then getting a box built eventually. Thank you for the advice.

It is incredibly difficult to get loud out of a trunk, especially in a car like that which likely has a lot of metal/foam/seat between the woofers and you. A custom box should be your best investment for money invested to output gained.

I politely disagree. Probox stuff doesn't lack output really, it just sounds terrible. Regardless of what box you put them in, they won't be playing the bass signal that they aren't receiving.

Probox are great for normal use, but for max output a box specifically made for the sub will greatly bring out performance.

In trunk builds its best to bring the back seat down to get louder or face the port near a stable wall.

Could be. Really without seeing/testing in person. It might could be he's just being cheated by the LoC or factory outs, but sight unseen I vote for proper box as a first step.
