newB: dual 2 ohms?

no idea what im doing but im trying to learn. can i use a mono amp (600 for 2 ohms and 300 for 4 ohms) at 2 ohms with a sub that is dual 2 ohms? basically, can i get the 600 watts using a dual 2 ohm amp? please explain either way. i installed a turbocharger upgrade into my audi s4 and change my oil myself but when it comes to audio or electrical stuff, im lost.

you could wire the coils in series and get a 4ohm load or in parallel to get a 1 ohm load. go here:

the amp im talking about is the rockford p6001bd mono amp, so if i wired it like u showed, what output would i get at 1 ohm? same as 2 ohms (in this case 600)? here are the specs on the amp:

i just wanna use a single 10" sub with a lot of clarity and punch,. i listen to metal, no rap, so i want very crisp bass so it doesnt ,make a bunch of real fast bass drum kicks sound like one blurry mess.

you could see as much as 1200 watts but it depends on if the amp is 1 ohm stable or not. by the looks of the specs it probably isn't so you would be better off wiring it to 4 ohms and getting 300 ish watts

suppose i had a crappier mono amp that could do 300 at 1 ohm. if i was to take the better amp and wire it at 4 ohms to get 300 watts, would there be any diff (i.e., any reason to spend 300 instead of 150 if im getting 300 watts in the one sub)?

probably not but it depends on the brands of amps. some are built better than others. it should be the same amount of power as long as the amps are of close to equal quality

To answer your question.No. You cannot get 600 watts with your current amp and sub setup. That amp isn't even 1ohm stabble. Your choice for now are just running it @ 4ohms or getting an amp that can do 600 watts rms @ 1ohm. Then you would find a perfect match.

i appreciate ur help, but keep in mind, i have no "current amp and sub setup," all i have is an amp and i would very much like ur guys advice on which sub to get.

Oh my bad I though you had a sub to go with it.
I'd get a 12" Kicker CVX (DVC 4)

Look at your other thread in the subwoofer section. I replied to it too. I like the extra cone area the 12" offers than the 10"

That is correct. Two 2 Ohm coils can be wired in series to a 4 Ohm load or in parallel to a 1 Ohm load.
