Newb at wiring, not sure if I have ohms right.

Like the title says I'm not very good with wiring and not sure if I have the impedance right. So currently I have two Rockford Fosgate P2D2-12's and I fried my brand new amp in 10 minutes. The subs are:

400w rms @ 2ohms

Which having two would come out to a total of 800w rms, right?

The amp that I had said that it was 900w rms and it's a mono class d amp.

The amp specs were:

Maximum 1500w , 600w rms @ 4ohms , 900w rms @ 2ohms

I'm guessing that my wiring is done wrong and I am at the wrong "ohmage"? I guess my question is, with the picture above, does anyone know how many ohms I have resisting? Click on the picture to make it bigger so you can see how I did it. XD This is how we did my old subs and they worked very well. I'm guessing I'm going to have to wire these a little different? I have them in a sealed box and there is no gap for wires in the box to go from sub to sub. (Hence the two black lines in the picture.) Also if someone has a suggestion on an amp for these two 12" subs then please comment below. I will take any advice!

Thanks for your time!

I was driving into town from my house, which takes 10 minutes, the subs stopped literally as soon as I got to town. I stopped my car, got out and looked at my amp and there were no lights on it at all. The protection mode light wasn't on and the power light wasn't on. I touched the amp and it was VERY hot. The subs are Dual Voice Coils and they are 2ohm subs.

By themselves. That model number might be dual 2 ohms, each sub.
Yes, they are both 2ohm subs. Also how much does it affect the subs if I only have one voice coil hooked up on each sub? I'm going to change it when I get my new amp but just kind of wondering.

you said your subs are dual 2, in the pic you illustrated two single coil subs.

Do you only have 2 of the 4 total voicecoils connected to the amp. If I'm looking at your drawing correctly you are showing the amp a 1ohm load by running only 2 of the coils in parallel. Your amp is not 1ohm stable, so if you are showing it 1ohm it is likely fried.

Yeah, I only hooked up one voice coil per sub. My last subs were SVC and when I put this subs in I didn't even think or notice the other coils. I knew they were DVC but when installing them I just got too dang excited. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Since I got the amp through Amazon I was able to send it back, hassle free.

I know I'm asking a lot of questions just for this one thread but what about this amp? Think she'll be fine after I actually hook my subs up right?
