New TV

my 50" is only like 73lbs. a 50" LCD or plasma is over 100lbs.

sony has dug themselves into a hole and become the joke of the electronics world for the most part. it's the uneducated people that purchase off of their name that keep them in business......makes me sound like a hypocrite b/c i have a sony TV, but they do those well.

sony does make decent digital cameras, but they have such a big head, they use their own type of memory card, pretty much making you a prisioner of their product if you have one.

Sony began losing their TV superiority when everyone got heavy into the big screens and tube technology was an afterthought (read: not long ago). I've only seen one other tube-based TV that had a better picture than a tubed Sony and that was a B&O counsole that was going for $4200.

Nowadays, they're just another 'one of those to look at' type brands and face some serious competition.

i like the sony xbr1 and 2's pq and their not to expensive

but i love the way the samsungs look

Went to Audible Elegance today...

The Pioneer Elite 42" Plasma... it owns. It's also $3500.

So... That... or a $1500 46" Sony Rear Projection 3LCD model @ Sony Style...

Or a 46" $1430 Samsung Rear Projection DLP @ CC... and maybe get a better deal on that b/c I know the people there...

toshiba generally makes quality stuff. while they have kinda slacked in the TV market lately, i wouldn't hesitate to buy a product of theirs. a buddy of mine has that set and likes it very much. just go to the store and watch it. compare its picture to others like it. the price of similar TVs is generally very close, so it knocks price out as the deciding factor. it really all just comes down to P/Q.

in that size, go compare the p/q of that toshiba to that of a samsung.

the price of 720p TVs is going to drop tremendously very soon. TV makes are producing and pushing 1080p in a big way and will step it up even more after the new year. if you don't get one on BF, don't worry. you'll get as good a price or better a week or two after. you are going to see the best prices on 720p TVs at superbowl. after christmas/new years that is the next big sale. 720p is going to be the "left-overs" by then. they are going to make it where everyone can have HD for the superbowl....haha. that's just my prediction.

I would suggest that Pioneer elite. Friend of a friend has one who I just happened to watch a football game their and mang, I wish I got that!
