Guys, good to be here. I know absolutely nothing about car audio. I have some questions for you guys.
I recently bought a '99 4Runner Limited. The factory stereo sucks. I believe it has a 6 speaker sound system.
I want to put in a new stereo with iPod connectivity. I'd rather not put a subwoofer in the back as I use the thing to go camping and such. If necessary, I'll replace the factory speakers.
Anyway, I guess my general question is: what do I need to do to get a nice sounding stereo in this thing without paying more than $500 - $600? Can I get something better / louder than the factory stereo for this? Do I really need to replace the speakers or is the head unit the main problem? Any suggestions? I know NOTHING about car audio and will listen with open ears. If you guys tell me to do something, I'll do it.
Thanks,
Dave
