New to custom installs, please give me so guidance (amp/comp/sub/hu)

Alright folks, so here it is: I finally ordered all of the stuff that I want to stuff into my 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer (without ugpraded sound system).

This is what I purchased:

- 10'' pioneer champion subwoofer and a sealed schosche enclosure

- 6.5'' Polk Audio MM series component speaker set for front.

- Polk Audio class D 4 channel amplifier PAD4000

- Pioneer DEH80PRS head unit (single din)

- 2008+ lancer dash kit with steering wheel adapter and the wire bundle adapter (I forget what you call it but its just the wire bundle that makes it so you don't have to cut any stock wires).

- Door kit of dynamat

- Power Akoustic 4 Amp wiring kit

- Spool of 12 gauge wire for speakers.

Alright folks, after buying all that, I basically looked at it all and said "****, am I going to be able to do this?". Back in the day when I had my old car, Best buy installed my previous amp, the head unit, and full range speakers. All i had to do was install the components and add a subwoofer, etc.

Here are my lists of concerns, please give feedback on any of them.

-I am a bit concerned about installing the head unit. I have never done this and am a bit afraid that once it comes to getting the wires straight I will get confused. Reason being, I know that the power wires to the stock speakers are in that wire loom and in the big bundle. Do you just cut the stock speaker wires, and leave them there? I don't really know how to picture my thought, but I see wires coming from that bundle going to each left/right speaker, but I'd just be cutting them and leaving them there (as I am going to run seperate wires from the amp to the components)?

-Is it pretty cut and dry matching the wires up when you need to solder them? Or do you have to get a diagram for your vehicle to figure it out?

- Do newer cars have tweeter housings in the sail panels? It is a brand new car and I'd hate to already cut a hole in the door to flush-mount the tweeters. Is it generally pretty easy mounting them in the sail panels?

- Do most aftermarket HUs have some sort of security system or are they plug and play? I don't want to hook it up and then not be able to use it.

** - Online sites that had the MM speakers for sale gave a fitment auto-check and said that they would fit my car fine. However, when best buy checked their book, there was a note for my model saying that the woofer housings aren't very wide and they may need to cut it to size. Is this pretty easy to accomplish with a standard drill, etc.?

- I purchased a DVC 10'' Sub (by accident actually I meant to get an SVC) which I plan on bridging between 2 channels on my 4-channel amplifier. How would I need to wire it to get a 4 OHM load (being that it's a DVC)? The subwoofer is a 4ohm subwoofer.

I'm on the fence about shelling out the money or doing it myself. On one hand, this is expensive equipment (and a brand new car), which I would hate to damage. But on the other hand, I'm never going to learn unless I actually do it.

While I know that crutchfield offers a wealth of information it's the being creative when you hit those roadblocks that makes me nervous.

So a couple things to finish off. #1 , please let me know if you saw any equipment/accessories that I'll need that you didnt see me list (except solder and heatshrink since I know that), and #2 , just verify my plan of action for the install and see if I left anything out.

1. Amp

-get amp layed out in trunk.

- Run power cable from battery through firewall and rocker panels back to amp.

-Find a ground and connect the amp ground wire to it.

-Run remote switch wire up to where head unit is going to be.

2. Head unit

- pull out dash and disconnect head unit.

- install new dash kit and insert new single DIN HU.

- Connect antenna and then match up/solder wires to wherever they need to be

- I'm also confused about the steering wheel controls, are these going to be a seperate wire bundle plugged into the HU?

-Run RCA cables from back of new HU down the opposite rocker panels back to the amplifier.

3. Speakers

-Run speaker cables from amplifier to crossovers which will be taped to the inside of the door panel (in a plastic bag to keep it waterproof).

- take out factory woofer, and screw in new aftermarket woofer and run wire to crossover

- Run speaker wire from crossover up through the sail panel housing to the tweeter.

- Somehow install tweeter in the sail panel.

4. Subwoofer

- Install subwoofer in housing and screw down in trunk

- run wire from amp to sub.

5. Dynamat

- Install dynamat on door panels around woofer and put everything back together.

Does this sound about right besides setting the gain, setup, etc.?

Thanks for any feedback guys!!!
