new subwoofer

i just bought a new jl10w7 in a prowedge box built by JL and going to buy a jl 500/1 amp.

all together i've spent 500 bucks on it. was it a reasonably good deal?

also i was wondering if it would get a decent bump to it. i've been reading about how this setup is much better for SQ than SPL but i do like my occasional loud bass.

another thing i might worry in the future is it going to be using too much power without having anything else like a capacitor in the setup. would it drain the alternator/battery too much?

thanks for responses

The big 3 is 3 runs of wiring that need to be installed:

Battery positive (+) to alternator - From the positive terminal on your battery to the alternator positive (+) post

Engine block to chassis ground - From engine block to chasis. This is to strengthen the ground.

Battery ground (-) to chassis ground - From the negative terminal on your battery to your car's chassis

I looked on JL's website, while they say the 10" W7 will run optimum with a 500 watt amp, however, I would run something more like a 700 watt amp. You can go up to 1,000 until you get until the danger zone and your warranty is voided. Just my two cents.
