So i decided to finally replace my beloved OA12, so i ordered an sound qubed HDS300.

Got the sub today and went to drop her in.... and shes to big to fit the recess. Tryed removing the gasket but still to big.

Anyone know what the best tool would be to shave that out? OA was 12.5 in diameter and the SQ is 12.875. I was hoping my builder left a little wiggle room there and he did not lol

Step 1. Grt a sand paper blockStep 2. Get sand paper

Step 3. Sand away!
Its a bit thicker then using a block, the box is very large so i leave it in the truck. Not super accessible, whatever i use will have to be a power tool.

Shave off some of the the sub basket. jk, get to sanding that tool should work, although it wont be the easiest to make even

Bandfiles are nice but they dig fast and leave uneven sanding if you leave it one place too long be careful The belts can be temperamental constantly jumping off and breaking.

Ill post a video link

Tell me about it! So after all i shaved still turned out that the sub was to deep. Went to my local shop and had a ring made, sub is now mounted flush in the box and hitting!

So far i like the sound but i think my OA12 was louder. Hopefully this sub comes alive in the next few weeks.

thanks DB, that definitely helps swallowing a $300 price tag 😂 these would essentially be running midbass for me too

What is your budget? With being exposed to Rain.. I would recommend looking at a marine grade SAS Bazooka for the sub stage
