new sql setup

did I read this right??... SQL setup? and you want a ported box? SQL for a certain (tuned)frequency??? .... correct me if I am wrong but serious SQL systems use a sealed box because of its characteristics and ability to reproduce a full spectrum of freq. response rather than focus on just one specific sub frequency (such as a ported or band pass box is designed to do-ie: provide maximum spl at said frequency).

I am a SQL person because I like to listen to all sorts of music and need a very diverse system that can accurately reproduce ALL of my music without exageratting (s?) just one specific frequency. And yes, it still gets loud enuff I can get the vehicle 2 cars in front of me to roll up their windows. (I am running 1 old JL 12W04 at 250W in a sealed enclosure) its all in the design babe.

Umm I don't know where you heard that a ported box only boosts at one frequency but it's wrong.

A ported box plays a range of frequencies, the loudest ones being above you r boxes tuning frequency and then they peak off so many Hz above the boxes tuning freq.

Also bandpasses can be made to boost output in a wide range of frequencies, not just one.

*Edit* To the original thread starter...

The MTX 9500 series woofer is an SPL subwoofer and I have heard that their SQ is almost non existent.

W6's are nice

I was thinking of picking up one or two RF T215's

How bout DD 3515's (been thnkin bout those too)
