Few questions here. Speakers are brand new hertz mpk 2 way. 110 rms voltage. I set my gains at

19. Xx volts ac ,lower that 20.x that it should be. Is there a specific break in period before getting the volume up there?

Another question is what type of pink noise should I use to set. I used a 1kHz track but it's thru auxiliary with phone volume up high and I don't like how the music sounds thru the phone.

Should I download pink noise to a cd and set it that way? Or usb ?The cds and USB sounds really good but I'm nervous that the gains are not correct since I used the auxiliary with the phone volume all the way up

What's the best source for setting gains?

I haven't used or recommended the "DMM method" of gain setting in years. There are too many variables to make it reliable.

I also don't break in speakers. You need to set a high pass filter, either on the head unit or on the amplifier. After that, make sure the speakers get loud and don't pop with bass.

What head unit do you have?

What amplifier is powering the speakers?

I have a low quality huh. Pioneer p1400 DVD with 8 band eq and a decent amp, rockford 551s 140x2

The speakers say they play down to 40 but I set my hpf on hu to 80 and ap on amp.

It may be that they act like this because they are underpowered and the push to play them louder is causing the amp to clip the signal, which will...
