new speakers, now amp clipping

I had a set of speakers in pods in my wifes bronco. I replaced the cheap speakers to RF r165x3 components. Well it started clipping my RF amp and it actually killed the amp. I replaced the amp with a new kenwood and it clips that one too. Their 4 ohm speakers and I hardly had the gain turned up at all. The amp powers the front speakers just fine. What could it be? I used the stock wiring in the pods which is pretty small could that be it? It powered the other speakers fine.

This is literally the only time i've ever seen a thread where 2 people think the same thing.. post the same thing exactly at the exact same time..
