new speakers don' fit

Just got some new speakers for christmas and i don't even have the bracket for them ( lol ) its my fault i thought that the speaker would come out of this stock thing but it looks to be the entire speaker??? kinda dumb.

it has to be pretty far out and this link i found for my car:

will not work i need a good inch and a half extra plus that bracket or so... so it doesn't hit the window.

i was thinking ordering just a mount then buying some ****** wood or something or looking for some around my garage and just make like 3 spacers out of the wood and mount the speaker on it?

unless people make things like such ^^

You are correct sir. Build a bracket out of mdf. Use the bracket from the stock speakers, trace it, then cut it and mount it in your car. If you want to create a nice seal, which you should to create the midbass I assume your looking for, buy some sort of air tight adhesive and put it on your door. Good luck!

Buy 1/2" it's cheap and you don't need the full 3/4". And my apologies I didn't mean adhesive. Look into the butyl rope from sound deadener showdown. It stays sticky forever and creates a complete seal.

Your getting ripped off bro. Go somewhere else. Even if it is an hour away that's still more worth it than what your paying.

I pay $45 for birch in 5x5 sheets.

You can use any wood pine plywood will be cheapest more then likely. CCX is also cheap if you can find it.

i looked up my local lowes because i bought my other piece of MDF out of state..

its $25 for a 49x97 piece if 1/2 MDF

and i can't find any wood pine plywood on the website, but im going to run out there..

any other options?

look up ccx

almost all the plywood those places sell are pine with other wood laminate. unless it states specifically it's 100% oak,birch ect it's a thin layer of whatever with a pine core.

Since all your doing is making a speaker adapter for a regular car and not an sq comp car any kind of wood will do.

I recommend using plywood for baffles anyway. Plywood does not soak up water nearly as easily as MDF does, even if you paint it. Have you ever seen a speaker box that got wet? Lots of black mold and it swells + falls apart. Paint your plywood baffle after you have made all cuts, holes, etc.

Use automotive autobody sealant between the baffle and door. You buy it at automotive stores or even some well stocked grocery stores have it. Use sheet metal screws and screw the baffle to the door. Do your wiring and mount your speakers.....done! Takes about 2 hours and you will have a very solid foundation for your speakers.....which this alone will improve the SQ considerably over mounting into the existing holes.

thanks guys! i will go out tomorrow as i think lowes is closed... i was thinking just making a flat piece that is basically a triangle with the circle in the middle, then making like 2-3 more circles and just stack them ?
