New sound system for an '05 Chevy Colarado

Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for what equipment should get to put in my '05 regular cab Colorado? I want a new deck, speakers, amp and sub. Nothing too outrageous like an MTX Jackhammer but I am willing to spend up to $500 or $600. I have a Zune and would like a stereo which has a direct hookup to it through USB if one exists (stupid IPod monopoly on everything). The only problem in the way is the fact that I can not fit a sub inside the box and it would have to be in the box of the truck. Would it still produce good audible sound in the cab?

If thats 5-600 on just subs you have a really wide range if thats subs and amp you really dont have much to choose from

Here's what's going in mine(it's tore apart at the moment)...

Alpine CDA-9887

PG Xenon 100.4

PG Xenon 600.1

Memphis MCSQ 6.5" mids

Seas Neo Tweeters

Image Dynamics IDQ10V3 D2 in 1.5cft. tuned to 28hz

RAAMmat (1 roll)

Knuconceptz wiring

I've fabbed the a pillars to accept the tweeters and everything will be ran active.

Be careful when selecting mids... with a 1/2" spacer the deepest you'll fit are about 2 1/2" and if you try to use a deeper spacer the door panels won't go back on.

Awesome dude thanks for all the info. I am really new to car audio and have never installed on my own. The most Ive had done to a vehicle was a new Deck and a Bazooka EL8A-HP Sub/Amp combo installed by Best Buy. I want to do it myself this time around because Best Buys prices are outrageous for installation and parts. Could you explain each of your parts and go into a bit more detail? What you listed sounds really impressive. I also could use a good guide for disassembly and installation, do you know where I could find one to teach myself?
