I don't like the frame, but unless you invert, or have plexi, you don't see it.. i don't know of any mechanical advantages/disadvantages of it, though..

Looks like 2 1" thick slugs...just going off looks.. probably totally wrong..

Yes, but that thread does not say how big of a slug it is.. (thats why i said that i GUESSED 1")

The picture shown above is our first prototype with a larger motor. The BM's are getting re-vamped: bigger all the way around. The frame pictured offers excellent venting around the coil and free-flowing air behind the cone so we are going to give it a shot (keep in mind, this is a PROTOTYPE, which is subject to change). The voice coil is staying the same diameter, but that is about the only thing that is staying the same with the new BM's. The motor is getting bigger, the power handling is going up, and excursion will stay about the same (since they already did ~ 2" p-p).

Yes, those are twin 1" slugs.

That frame better have a serious increase to the performance for how ugly it is....
