Not that you can't get good parts from China if you spend the money, just letting you guys know who worry about such things.

That basket is technically superior to the 12-spoke... which is why Nick used it on the proto. Based on the surprising negative reaction SI may be able to find another basket that does the job. Cost is the same as a 12-spoke as far as I know and this one has technical advantages... maybe if it was finished in all black it would look classier?

Id like to know how that basket flows air better than a 12-spoke. That basket clearly is not as 'open' as a 12-spoke, nor do I see any great leaps forward in cooling passages etc. The cooling passages I see appear to be in almost the exact same spot as the standard 12-spoke design.... so Im curious why this basket is representing itself as a better cooling unit.

I know that from the outside the basket doesn't look like it will flow as much as the 12-spoke, but the channels near the top plate are supposed to flow more air around the voice coil itself and not be just open holes. We will see when we get the driver in and put our thermocouple on the coil to look at VC temperatures. That's the great thing about prototypes, they're made to test and gather data from.

I think going all black with the basket would be good as well. But I don't think it looks as bad as everyone else is saying. Any attempts to improve should be applauded rather than criticized, in my opinion, especially with companies who have faithfully proven their quality several times over.

I wouldn't mind seeing that basket painted black, or even a navy blue to match the SI colors.
