Just recently purchased a brand new vehicle so im trying not to destroy it yet. I want to know what sub would be better on a jl 500-1 I have an sa 12 and tantric sound hd 12. I dont know much about the amp because someone gave it to me but I hear they are underrated giving as much as 1000rms at 1ohm. I can run the sa12d4 at 2 ohm 500-600 rms or the tantric at 1ohm at the rumored 1000 both I know is underpowering them but you think it would just be better to run the sundown since its closer to the rated rms? theyll be going in a 1.8 cu box at 35hz

I would go with the sa 12 wired at 2 ohm.

That jl should put out between 6-700 rms so will be great for the sa.

The sa should get louder at that power level than the hd as well.

If you decide to go with the hd wire it in series at 4 ohms the jl is rated at 500 rms from 1.5-4ohms so its not meant to run at 1 and there would be no benefit if you did.

Jl is not underrated there are heavily regulated to produce the 500w its rated at save maybe a 50w fluctuation due to parts inconsistencies.

dont run the jl at 1ohm. It will run for a little while but it will fry the amp.

with that power the sa sub would be my pick as it doesnt need to be overpowered to perform well. Whereas from my knowledge tantric subs are built to take extreme abuse and generally need a bit more than rated to shine.
