New setup: From 15" to ???

Currently I have a MAaudio 15" competition serie (600wrms) driven by a 500/1 JLaudio amplificator...

The thing is, it is taking to much space and I'm getting bored of the sound of a 15"....

I can't decide between

-2 Infinity Kappa (12")

-2 Infinity Kappa (10")

-1 Soundstream T4-10 (10")

-1 Pheonix Gold Xenon (12")

Considering the Soundstream is 800wrms, do you guys think it will sounds louder than the 2 infinity 12" ? I've been told to use it in a sealed box from a friend, but I've read elsewhere that the same sub (in a 12" format) absolutly need a ported box...

I'm listening t all kind of music. My 15" was perfect for rap and hip-hop, but wasn't great for rock or punk music... I'm trying to find something that would be good for everything...

Are these sub not bad SQ wise ?

how about a 12w6v2....the SQ doenst get any better, and its very punchy it will handle the rock music very well....

and it will match up perfectly to the 500/1....

and it wont cost ya a whole lot either..

euh....

well... the box is alreadu kind of "excellent".. What I mean is that the way it was built it help the sub to sound more "thight". I've heard the same sub in a conventionnal box and it was sounding more like a regular 15"...

for the budget... well... I'm looking in the used and new market.... soo $300 for some used subs isn't that bad...

the guy is asking $170 for the tarantula with box

Honestly I dunno what I'd pick, but it wouldnt be any of those choices.

The space thing is a genuine issue, but I would greatly disagree with the second part of that statement because a 15 doesn't "sound" any different, or less quick than a 12, 10, 18. I won't harp on that, just look up some stuff on here and you'll get a lot of information about the subject, especially from Dan Wiggins from Adire Audio.

As to the subject at hand, I ask you if you're set on the choices you've got there? I would consider something from ascendant audio (do they have the new stuff out yet, it's been forever since I've been on here or involved).

Their atlas line is great for entry level, great performance for the price...and the avalanche series is amazing and will work great off 500 watts. Now, they've got some new lines it looks like coming out, which I have no knowledge of, but maybe it would be worth waiting for the reviews to come out to upgrade?

Beyond ascendant, the kappa perfects suggested are solid drivers, out of your choices, I'm not sure I would pick one. Do a little looking on here for "budget" subs, and you'll come up with a lot of information reguarding subwoofers in your price range and where they stack up against others.
