Its like another Warbleed vs anyone in this thread. One person using reason to come to conclusions, and the rest arguing that reason is not real.

I think its fair for Feandil to speculate on a sub that hasn't been released if he knows ENOUGH information to come to reasonable conclusions. Reading what he's written so far, I would venture to say he does.

Of course he is not trying to say that we should all give up hope for the new XXX. We should all take what he's saying for what it is, an educated guess. No reason to bash him for that.

Give us a little time and you will see -- you guys provoked more information out of us than we should be saying anyways lol... Just speculating, if you take this design and increase the throw at the direct cost of efficient until you've hit about 90dB 1w/1m, what kind of excursion are you looking at? How far will it throw at 80db/w/m?

Once again there's no real info, but I don't see RE throwing away so much money and killing off their flagship woofer for something so impractical you'll only see it at comps. Perhaps they are designed for higher efficiency at low power? Ie, the BL curve is greatly peaked at 1.5-2" p2p for people throwing 1500-2kw at it? I've never designed a sub before, but it would seem feasable.

Curious how you are going to get 122db sensitivity out of a "conventional" (to make NDMustang happy) driver, when present physics sets the limit at 112db?
