New Orleans - Hurrican Katrina recovery? How is it now?

I find what you just posted to be hurtful and I too have reported it. Please refrain from speaking your mind and only type what the norm would consider acceptable, thanks.
WTF?

what do you mean what he typed was hurtfull.. unless I dont know how to read nothing he said was out of line..

can you explain

as bad as it was, this is a different kind of bad. unliveable conditions instead of poor living conditions like before
I'm no genius, but if I was surrounded by death and total destruction and about 5 hours to the north was a much better situation, jobs, and not so much death.....well I'd just walk my *** outta there.

But then again, what am I thinking. Sitting around complaining about how the gov't has failed them and they need money is way better. Yeah just keep waiting for that paycheck to roll in from uncle sam. Wow, seems to me that not much has changed since BEFORE the hurricane. Except relief is easier to get and they don't have to wait till a certain date each month.

I won't be able to explain it to a Canadian. I just don't have that much time right now.

Just understand that it hurt, it hurt real deep.

So after reading most of the comments on here, the summary is pretty much that people there are "lazy". Would it be pointless if I were to donate them money (I don't have much but I was thinking about trying to contribute somehow)?

PLENTY of other things to donate to my friend.

lol..the good ol Canadian comeback insult.. here we go..

I guess thats all you have to fall back on..isn't it?

all I asked was if you could simply explain what was so hurtfull..

unless someone else who also read it can explain..

I assume they'll understand because they are American..right?

thanks

um, I don't recall the OP asking about kind of people that live in New orleans, just the condition of the city post-katrina. stay on topic kthx

It's all we fall back on because its the only thing you will understand. You didn't get sarcasm, how am I even going to come close to explaining logic?

It is a nice gesture, but yeah I would have to say it would be pointless. People have had countless opportunities to get back on their feet, and if they haven't yet in 3 years, I say it is their own lazy *** fault.

I honestly don't recall asking the OP what I was allowed and not allowed to say. I'm talking about that region and the current conditions and the people.

Now why don't you take your Miley Cyrus album and your 13 year old girl talk to another discussion, you are clearly out of your element *kthx*

Actually, it's good to know what people are like there too because I never really thought about the victims there being "lazy".

I usually hear people at my school who went there for the katrina relief program saying how nice new orleans people are.

They told me how a random construction worker there walked up to one of the katrina relief women and just say "thank you" just because they were there to help fix homes.

Now I know the truth; New Orleans people are "lazy"

went down there for the BCS game in january....the french quarter was rebuilt...everything else was still real ugly. we ended up talking to some locals walking down the sidewalk and got their thoughts on the situation...they said the same thing. most who haven't rebuilt have been expecting a hand out and are too lazy to get to it themselves. the group we spoke with had rebuilt and moved on. previously i simply thought there wasn't much help. hearing that stuff from locals definitely changed my viewpoint....
