Did you seriously just ask what adding a battery is "solving"?

why are you agreeing to something that you obviously have no idea about? Moron?

thanks asswipe, i just said that in my 2nd post. once again you were just too stupid to realize it.

You said a Battery will do the job you "assumed" he was trying to solve with his capacitor. I stated that batteries are good, but it depends on what you are trying to solve.

Sure there are several instances where a battery will solve your voltage drop.

But at what rate is the drop occurring? On 1000 watts, how many batteries do you add before you realize its not solving or your alternator won't keep up? how much do you spend on a alternator?

Were only talking 1000 watts. It sure doesn't seem worth it to spend 700 dollars on batteries and alternators.

Plus the OP stated he already has a back up alternator. So I assume he added the capacitor to "stiffen" the charging system. Nothing wrong with that.

So what else do you know more than me about? Want my Instant Messenger so you can continue to "prove me wrong" for no reason?

I know about the drama surrounding capacitors.

It's still a unsettled debate.

Even among the Tech Heads.

So when someone posts that I'm a moron for saying anything "for" capacitors. And quite out of context at that.

you guys gotta read this thread. some dipsht on w-body was arguing with me forever when I tried to explain to this chick on there what caps do and he would not shut up until the thread got locked. caps are a great topic to argue about but its hilarious when people can't grasp why anyone would ever use one. almost always it is someone who has no experience with them.

well lets see, thats one of those questions thats pretty funny at first, like... why do you use a laptop to datalog and tune your eprom? or even why do you bother upgrading the RAM in your computer? or something. short answer is because I can!

...not to be a dick or anything because you asked. but I can point out some of the more obvious reasons why I use mine and what I have planned for my next system.

I use mine for gathering, displaying, and distributing quick bursts of power to all components in car stereos and engines and accessories. not only that, but aiding in the discharging the battery and buffering of all components in my charging system. It is the first thing to take power and hold it for use and with my large alt wiring aid in displaying big voltage numbers in which my alt can flow tons of clean power and stay cool.

In my next system I will be using a single trunk mount battery. most likely a deep cycle AGM battery. not a crappy spiralcell battery. the plan is to run the charge wire straight from the alt to the trunk with 0 gauge and then back up to the engine bay with 4 gauge to where the stock battery was and have a cap to connect where the original battery cables were. It will serve as the car battery since it can take and make ready power before the system since caps tend to be greedy. I have heard of this system but never seen one but think it will work out great. To me this seems like the ultimate application for automotive use, free up space in the engine bay for turbos and CAI systems and you get a digital voltmeter for free. not to mention you got your power and ground points you lost while relocating your battery.
