New member, replacing Bose with a "budget" SQ setup...need suggestions

I recognize that the OP stated he was looking for a "budget SQ setup," but aren't the CL's the low end for CDT comps?
Good to know that you were pleased while running your set, but I would think that he might be better going with some of the more well-known stuff, even if it means going with used vs/ new. Just can't see how the CL's would compare all that well SQ-wise with other brands already mentioned, like many from Focal, Boston Acoustics, Hertz, Rainbow, etc.

(I have a brand new CL Pro62 set with upstage tweets that I bought for my upcoming install, but changed my mind after having several remarks made about them comparing poorly to other similarly-priced options....and I was desiring good SQ....) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
I'm confused how you let other people guide your decisions of what speakers to run. I mean, you're not the first person to buy new gear and then change their mind, but you're now passing judgement on all of CDT Audio's CL line of speakers because of this.

Ignoring my biased opinion of CDT Audio, there are still a lot of people who have tried the brand and really liked what they heard. You'll also read about people who tried other brands and didn't like it and won't buy that brand again. Notice I said tried.

In my 99 pathfinder it seems very difficult to get good mid bass. I have my door all deadened and sealed yet there is virtually no midbass. I haven't found a good way to get midbass out of it just yet...

Guess you also missed the part where I said hundreds of hours to get right. I bet those SQ competition vehicles just tossed in a set of components like the OP is going to do and won. And since when does budget SQ equally competition winning SQ vehicle? Oh wait your argument holds no water. Your comparing apples to cinder blocks.
And yet your retort is like a old ladies ***, wrinkled, flawed and just wrong to look at. YOU do not need time aligment for budget SQ or even professional comp SQ. Step off your small little soap box and re read what I said.

As you said that TA is a MUST for ANY SQ when infact it is not that is my arguement and it holds plenty of water, bucket fulls to be honest. Again TA is fun to play with and sure it can help with a center point in your stage but really for a budget SQ set up, not really needed even more so with what the op is probably going for.

Do you really think the op wants to mess with TA anyway?

Sorry op thread got off topic, I would look into Hybrid Audio Imagine Series, or some DLS entry level comp sets. The Alpine Type R 6.5 sets are nice I was running the 6.5's in my set up for quite awhile they had plenty of midbass and are pretty affordable.

Yep, I don't doubt that you are, lol. I bet you're also confused why there are car audio forums, too, right? I mean, why discuss and review the + and - aspects of a manufacturer, a line, or a specific component?

Your statement is completely inane.

I happily allow myself to keep an open mind, and give credence to comments that indicate some consistence of opinion.

In this instance, that a low end CDT product (a fine company that def has some good products) compares poorly to several other company's mid- to high-end products when the goal is more SQ than SPL....not a real shocker , there, is it?

I mean, you're not the first person to buy new gear and then change their mind, but you're now passing judgement on all of CDT Audio's CL line of speakers because of this.

I didn't "pass judgement" anywhere. I stated what I believe to be one fact (CL is CDT's low end line), and one opinion (that they prolly compare poorly to several other's offerings, but that the OP might need to buy those used to remain "budget.")

Ignoring my biased opinion of CDT Audio...

Considering you deal in their products, I generally do.

Please feel free to ignore my non-biased opinion of them, as well.

...there are still a lot of people who have tried the brand and really liked what they heard. Notice I said tried.

That a Dr. Obvious statement.... also inconsequential, as there are plenty of people who have also tried Pyle and Pyramid, and who thot they were pimping down the block like a real playah, owning the fuqqin town.
So don't be so defensive, playah

With the Bose system you will need to run new speaker wires as you'll be bypassing the amplifier.
As I admitted earlier, I am naive when it comes to car audio, so let me ask what is probably a stupid question: Why couldn't I take the factory Bose amp out, put a new amp in, and connect the stock wires to the new amp?

EDIT: After doin' some searchin' I have now figured out why...had no idea each friggin' speaker had it's own amplifier in the door. Replacing the Bose seems to be getting more and more fun the more I read haha.
