New Lanzar Opti tweeters....

Pointless if you ask me...
105db/w/m, AND 500wrms power handling? Without SEVERE attenuation, nobody would be able to stand over 1 watt to those considering they are aluminum tweeters. At 500wrms, we are talking 130db just from the tweeters...That's death if you ask me!

I have heard some Klipsch La Scala's that were probably in the realm of 105db/w/m. They were almost deafeningly loud with 5 watts sent to them. And my ears can handle A LOT of abuse, trust me.
Are you serious bro? 5 watts? I figured the 500 watt RMS rating was pure bullshit. I was expecting no more then 100 watts RMS realistically. A 2.85 inch VC is insane for a tweeter so you never know...Might have to do some testing.

Think about it this way...

A 10db gain is double the loudness. Your normal pair of components or home audio speakers are about 90db/w/m. So for the La Scala's and the Lanzars, that's a 15db gain off the bat, or ABOUT 2.5 times as loud! You would need about 30 watts to a normal speaker to get as loud as the super tweeter off one watt. Or at 500wrms on the Lanzars, about 10,000! Pretty insane if you ask me...

Makes sense. Even head unit power would destroy your ears. I'm wondering if the ratings are actual or not. But hell with a 2.85 inch VC they can't be too far off.
