They used to have this over on the US site. It's kind of a promotional, marketing bit, but you'll get the idea of the EXAD concept. It really makes you wish JVC took the same approach with their entire product lineup...

They sort of continue to use the EXAD name for existing products but have essentially dropped the approach.
With almost zero mainstream marketing, nobody knew about them. To 99% of the population, JVC is the entry and midlevel units they saw in Best Buy/Circuit City/Ultimate Electronics/etc.. Nobody has a clue that JVC actually made some feature packed, nice looking HUs. They were never advertised and really no one ever bothers to actually look for new hardware or specifically JVC for inovations. Their probably now fired marketing department just left everybody in the dark. Their site was packed with a lot of glitter touting this and that including EXAD somewhere in the mix, but it was a poor job. Outside of going to their actual website, there just wasn't any info available for the end consumer.
You think the Pioneer P880PRS would sell so well if it wasn't touted and hyped on every car audio forum? It doesn't exist in most stores. Best Buy doesn't even carry anything above midlevel products. To most people, Pioneer's REV series doesn't exist, let alone their high end PRS series. How many people have actually heard of or even seen Pioneer's PRS speakers? It's the same fault. Poor marketing is a product's demise. Heck, I've had my AR8500 for sale on and off for about half a year, well priced. Nobody knows. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
There was a SHX850(basically the same unit, no Arsenal(shorter warranty and minus one telephone muting feature) for almost nothing. Not one person even looked at it till I told them what it actually did(3-way active, time alignment, all that fun stuff reserved for only a few top end models). These are units that retailed at $600-$700, even with very cheap
Ebay pricing in the $400 to $450 range. Some are still available here and there in the same $400-$500 price range. This guy was selling his for $200, $250, maybe less... I think is thread was up in the For Sale section for, oh, 3 months, not one response, just a few bumps. The OP wasn't exactly providing info though, just a pic and I think a link to JVC's website. People didn't bother finding out what it was. I went on there and actually listed out what it did and what kind of a hell of a deal it was. Someone jumped right quick after that, but it's like dragging a dead horse trying to make aware of JVC's existance.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Long post short, I'm not sure what EXAD means. It was mentioned at some point in JVC's promotional stuff way back, but I can't really find anything that flat out says the meaning. In essence, it's the idea of saying why not and shoving everything you can into a HU and build it to the highest quality you can. You get tons of features, high end components, actual good looks, and a price that wasn't astronomical. If JVC was ever smart enough, or at least bothered to spend the resources, they would have carried this idea throught their entire product lineup(amps, speakers, heck use the name through home audio, cameras, everything using the same mindset) and them advertise the snot out of it everywhere. It just won't happen though. It could have been like Alpine's F#1 line-up but better priced. However cheap, flashy junk sells. Just think how Sony has sold with their Xplod lineup. Why make good stuff if it's making money?
